Program Summary

The Eviction Mediation Program was created to help people going through a residential eviction. The Program's goal is to help families find a way to stay in the rental unit or exit with dignity and to help reduce the number of court cases that would otherwise go through a lengthy eviction process.  To qualify, you must be a named party in an eviction proceeding or are at risk of being evicted.

Areas served

Champaign, DeWitt, Douglas, Jackson, Johnson, Macon, Massac, Moultrie, Piatt, Pope, Saline, St. Clair, and Union Counties.

What Happens After I Have Been Accepted Into the Program?

Once you have been accepted into the Eviction Mediation Program, your court case may be put on hold until the mediation process has been completed, however the eviction process can vary from area to area.  In order to complete the mediation process, both landlords and tenants will be required to attend at least one pre-mediation session.  If at the end of the session, both parties have come to an agreement on all issues, then the eviction process will end with mediation. If no agreement is reached, then the parties will continue through the eviction process at Court.  If you cannot attend your pre-mediation session, or any other scheduled mediation session, you must contact the Eviction Mediation Program.  For more information, please contact us.
